Frequently Asked Questions

What is Rail Six?
Rail Six is a free real-time GO Transit tracker for the Greater Toronto Area. Save your commute for a live countdown, or check the departure board for any GO station. No account, no ads.
Is Rail Six affiliated with Metrolinx or GO Transit?
No. Rail Six is an independent app built by Teclara Technologies. It uses publicly available GO Transit schedule and real-time data, but is not operated by Metrolinx. For official information, always confirm with GO Transit.
How often does Rail Six update?
Real-time departures, platform assignments, and service alerts refresh every 30 seconds from the Metrolinx OpenData feed. Schedule data reloads daily from the GO Transit GTFS feed.
How do I see my train’s platform?
Platform numbers appear on the departure board as soon as GO Transit publishes them — usually 10–20 minutes before departure at Union Station, and closer to departure at outlying stations.
Does Rail Six work for GO buses?
Yes. Bus stops and terminals are included in the station picker, and stations served by both trains and buses show a Train/Bus toggle on the departure board.
